IAR Group strengthens market position through acquisition of Sontec AG!

???? - IAR Group strengthens market position through acquisition of Sontec AG!

IAR Group from Zofingen (Switzerland), which specializes in automation systems, is taking over SONTEC AG from Hochdorf (Switzerland), which is active in the fields of automated testing technology, assembly automation, robotics and image processing, with immediate effect. With this acquisition, the IAR Group strengthens its position in the global market for industrial automation and increases its production capacity in Switzerland.

"I am very pleased about this early succession solution, which is ideal for the future of the company and its employees," says Othmar Amrein, former owner of Hochdorf-based Sontec AG. Amrein, who will be committed to a smooth transition in his position as CEO for the next two years and will subsequently be available for special tasks, is convinced that Sontec's products and services can be successfully sold in new markets within the IAR Group: "The international orientation and the enormous automation know-how tipped the scales in my favor for the sale to the IAR Group – both factors are equally relevant for Sontec's further development." It is also very important for Amrein that all jobs and the Sontec name will be retained.

And what speaks for the acquisition of Sontec from IAR Group's point of view?

Sebastien Perroud, founder and CEO of IAR Group, answers this question as follows: "The automated inspection technology and image processing divisions complement our portfolio excellently – we previously had to procure these competencies externally. Now we can fall back on them within the group of companies. This significantly strengthens and expands our expertise in industrial automation." In assembly automation and robotics, the IAR Group also has a great deal of know-how, but has other industry focuses: "There is no overlap in customers. So, this is also a perfect fit."

What changes for Sontec?

To make optimal use of the expanded competencies, Sontec will work closely with Bachmann Engineering AG in the future. The expanded production capacities will also play a central role. Perroud: "In the DACH region, we are experiencing growing demand for automation systems. In close cooperation with Bachmann Engineering and the Group's own subsidiary in the Stuttgart area, Sontec will make an important contribution to meeting this demand. The geographical proximity of the two Group companies naturally facilitates this enormously – it takes less than 30 minutes by car to travel from Hochdorf to Zofingen." Perroud also has his eye on global business: "Our customers in the USA will also benefit from the new products and competencies. So, the Sontec acquisition is a win-win-win situation."

Establishment of subsidiary in Germany as a key milestone!

???? - IAR Group from Switzerland, which specializes in industrial automation systems, is expanding and founding a subsidiary in the greater Stuttgart area. The main objective is to sell its self-developed automation modules for loading and unloading processes as well as automated special machines and robot cells on the German market. To this end, a sales and service team is to be established

"I am very pleased about the newly founded subsidiary in the greater Stuttgart area - a milestone in the history of the IAR Group. IAR Deutschland GmbH will serve as an important base for us to sell our products and services in the German market." This is how Sébastien Perroud, Chairman of the Board and CEO of the Zofingen-based IAR Group, comments on the expansion into Germany.

Sales of special machines, robotics cells and automation modules for loading and unloading processes

The IAR Group's primary objective is to sell its self-developed automation modules for loading and unloading processes, as well as its extensive expertise in building automated special-purpose machines and robotic cells in Germany. However, IAR Deutschland GmbH provides customers in Germany with access to all products and services as well as to the entire know-how of the internationally oriented IAR Group. In addition, IAR Deutschland GmbH cooperates with the high-tech partner Tigres GmbH for fully automated surface treatment of materials (for details see https://plasmaautomation.iargroup.com).

Establishment of a sales and service team headed by Jochen Eichert

IAR Deutschland GmbH is based in Aalen in the greater Stuttgart area. From there, the subsidiary will serve customers throughout Germany. "We are in the process of building a team of professionals in the areas of sales and service engineering," says Jochen Eichert, managing director of IAR Deutschland GmbH. "Motivated professionals who know automation and want to support us in our market expansion are welcome to contact me."

Relocation of production, shortage of skilled workers and high costs drive demand

Sébastien Perroud and Jochen Eichert are convinced that demand for automation solutions in Germany will continue to rise. The main reasons for this are a relocation of production back to Germany, the ongoing shortage of qualified specialists, and high production costs. Perroud: "Our automation solutions and our expertise in industrial automation make a decisive contribution to overcoming these challenges: Production capacities can be increased, employees can be freed up for higher-value work, and unit costs can be reduced."

IAR Group opens office in Porto!

???? - IAR Group is expanding and opening a branch office in Porto. Thanks to this step, the market coverage of our group company ZEUGMA is improved. In addition, the new office serves the entire IAR Group as a further base for its global range of engineering services.

"I am very pleased about the newly opened office in Porto. This will open up new market opportunities for us on a national and international level." This is how Sebastien Perroud comments on the expansion to the north of Portugal. According to Perroud, two main objectives are being pursued.

The first is to improve the market coverage of Zeugma S.A., which is based in the greater Lisbon area. "The Porto branch will serve us to attract new customers for our industrial solutions in the north and throughout Portugal," says José Carvalho. To this end, a sales and consulting staff will be recruited.

Secondly, the new office will serve as a further base for IAR Group's global offering of engineering services in industrial automation and robotics. "We are in the process of recruiting engineers with automation know-how for the Porto office," says Nuno Laginha. Their job will be to develop automation solutions for customers in Europe, Asia and North America.

Sébastien Perroud is convinced that demand for customized automation systems will continue to grow. The reasons for this include a shift of production back to Europe, combined with a shortage of qualified personnel. Perroud: "Many companies are being forced to increase production capacity while freeing up employees for work with higher added value – this is where we can make a decisive contribution with our proven expertise in automation."

We produce the automation modules where we sell them!

???? - IAR Group is excited to announce the launch of our two Swiss-made automation modules in America and the Iberian Area – the «Bachmann LoadingStation» (BLS) and the «Bachmann MovingDevice» (BMD). Own-developed by our Swiss entity Bachmann Engineering AG

Both modules are mainly used in the area of fully automatic loading of CNC machines, assembly stations and production plants. Click below to take a look or contact us directly.

Sebastien Perroud: «I am very pleased that we can now launch two of our automation modules developed in Switzerland on the market in the USA and Portugal. According to the motto «Think Globally, Act Locally» we produce the automation modules where we sell them.» Perroud: "This approach is not only sustainable and contemporary, but it also enables a transfer of know-how to the group companies and allows us to sell self-developed products in new geographical markets." This can be based on proven sales structures and established local marketing networks.

Both the BMD and the BLS are characterized by a small footprint, individual configuration, ease of operation and – thanks to castors and the QuickLock coupling system – flexibility in use. The two automation modules are especially suitable for the collaborative robots (so-called cobots) from Universal Robots; however, other robots can also be integrated. While the BMD is available in 6 basic versions, the BLS has an automatic palletizer with a maximum of 10 ¼-euro pallet spaces, which significantly increases the autonomy of the system.

Sebastien Perroud is convinced that there will be increased demand worldwide for automation systems for feeding machines in the coming years. "The shortage of skilled workers and cost pressures are forcing many companies to look for creative solutions - the use of well-designed, easy-to-use automation modules is an obvious choice." For the IAR Group, he therefore sees great potential that can be exploited through increased cooperation between the group members: "We are active in a growth market and can serve it with innovative, scalable and adaptable automation solutions."
